Frindle, Andrew Clements, New York: Aladdin Paperbacks, 105 pg
1. What is the book about? (Remember don’t give away the ending)
This book is about a 5th grade boy named Nick Allen, who starts to replace the word pen, with the word Frindle. This was not meant to happen, it happened because of a report one of his teacher assigned of how words are added to a dictionary. But instead, he created the word frindle. When his teacher found out that he thought this was the way words were added, she thought it was incorrect and kept any student after school who used the word frindle. But this word goes all around the country! the newspaper, t.v, and in much more entertainment. But the teacher somehow figures that this was the real way words were added.
2. What is your favorite part?
My favorite part was when Nick made a skit in front of Ms. Granger. I thought it was funny because it was so stupid to make a skit because you’d probably get in trouble. But even though Nick got in trouble, I thought it was a creative and fun idea.
3. What part of the book would you change?
If I were the author, I would make the book a little longer because I thought it was too short. I would add some things that happened next after the big frindle word, or keep adding new words and add what happened because of that word.
4. Will you recommend this book to a friend?
Yes. But I think not a friend who’s in 5th or 4th grade.
But I think it would be great for a new english learner.
5. How many stars would you give this book?
I would give 9 stars out of 10 because I thought it could use some more details.
